grandchildren, great-grandchildren and
one great-great-grandchild. Brother of
the late Donald Pickard, late Lois
(William) Johnson and the late Gladys
Dahler. Also survived by nieces and
nephews. The family will be present at
the HARRY A. WEDEKINDT FUNERAL
HOME, 280 Grover Cleveland Highway
(at Bailey) Amherst on Friday from 2-4
and 6-8 PM. A Funeral Service will be
held on Saturday at 11 AM at St. John’s
Evangelical Church, 55 Pleasant
Avenue, Lancaster (please assemble at
church). In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to Hospice

Born 4/20/30 Buffalo, N.Y.  Graduated Kenmore West High School 1948.  Joined the U.S. Navy Reserve 5/24/47 to 8/20/48.  Discharged to enlist in the U.S.M.C.  P.I. August ’48 to November ’48.  Transferred to Camp LeJeune, N.C. tent camp to 8/13/50 1st Marine Division 1st Shoe Party Bn. To Korea Inchon, to Seoul Korea to Wonsan, to Hungnam, Humhung,  to Koto-ri and Chosin, then back to Hunchan on ship to Pusan and start back up.  In Korea for 1 year.  Left Korea September 11, 1951 for San Francisco, California, arrived September 26 and transferred to Brooklyn Navy Yard.  March 3, 1952 transferred to Albany, Georgia until Honorable Discharge August 1, 1952 U.S.M.C. to U.S.M.C.R. until April 16, 1959. August 29, 1950 to September 10, 1951 participated in Campaign in Korea, Inchon, Seoul, Wonsan-Hungnam-Chosin and South and Center Korea. Combat Action, President Unit Citation – 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct,  National Defense, Korean Service Medal 3 Bronze Stars,  Navy and Marine Overseas, Korean President Unit Citation – 1 Bronze Star United Nation Service, Korea Service, 50th Korean Defense, Cold War, Combat Service, New York State Conspicuous Star, New York State Medal for Merit, Distinguished Service Award 5/30/05. Member of Navy & Marine Vets, the Chosin Few, Lockport Devil Dogs, and Chairman of Marine Corp Appreciation Day.
