Priscilla Bassett Bretschger, age 91, of Williamsville, NY, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2018. She was born January 25, 1927 in Buffalo, NY to the late Charles Kingman and Jean Bassett.
Priscilla attended Buffalo Seminary ‘44 before attending Cornell University ‘49, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and majored in Economics. She loved playing golf, tennis and travelling with her family. She spent at least part of every summer at her family’s home in Bay Beach, Canada.
Priscilla married the late Paul Ulrich Bretschger who she knew growing up in Buffalo. He also attended Cornell ‘49 and they married in June 1949. During their 60 years together they lived in Williamsville, NY, Riverside, CT and Villanova, PA as well as spending their later winters in Venice, FL. She received her teaching credentials in Connecticut and substitute taught for several years as well as being a real estate broker while in Pennsylvania.
Priscilla is survived by her sisters, Barbara Gearhart (Tallahassee, FL), Deborah McGinley (Devon, PA) and her sister-in-law Marilyn Bassett (Amherst, NY). She will be forever loved by her 5 children, Edward Bassett Bretschger (Chicago, IL), William Max Bretschger (Stamford, CT), Peter Eric Bretschger (Irvine, CA), Paul Stephen Bretschger (Old Greenwich, CT) and Pamela Moore (Mechanicsville, VA). She also leaves 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren who loved her dearly.
A private internment will be held this Summer at Forest Lawn. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last years. Donations in lieu of Flowers may be made to Buffalo Seminary, 205 Bidwell Pkwy, Buffalo, NY 14222.
