Blommendahl, Philip "Phil"
Transitioned on September 29, 2017 after 73 trips around the sun. He was born on September 18, 1944. Phil is the adopted son of Spencer and Evelyn who predeceased him. Husband to the late Helen Sarikas Blommendahl. Brother of Dale (Shelia) and Karen Blommendahl from California. Father of David (Sadie) Blommendahl. Grandfather of Charlie and her three children by marriage and uncle to 7 and great uncle to 15 in Arizona, California, and the Buffalo area.
Phil was a musician all of his life since 1952 when he started playing the drums. He has played locally in the Amherst Synphony and Lancaster Town Band. He was in and out of many parts of the music indusrty in spot composing, recording, playing and enjoying it. His other interest was that he and his late wife collected teddy bears and he still had about 30 left while he lived here.
The family will be present at the John E. Roberts Funeral Home (Amherst Chapel) 280 Grover Cleveland Highway (at Bailey) on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Amherst, 6320 Main Steet in Amherst at 10:30 am followed by a Entombment at Elmlawn Cemetery beside Helen. Casual dress is fine and flowers are respectfully declined. Any memorials should be addressed to the U.U.C.A. mentioned above in Phil's memory.
