Obituary of William E. Wright, III.

William E “ Billy” Wright died on January 17 2018 at his home. Bill spent the last two years of his life, with his daughter, Tenisha Wright in Buffalo. Bill was born in Rome, NY on October 26, 1938, in Rome, NY to Katherine Wright and William Wright Sr. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was most happy, and at peace hiking through snow-filled fields in his beloved Adirondacks with his Dad, or his pal, Mike Murray, searching for the elusive buck, or standing along side of a slow moving creek with his fishing pole in his hands. Bill was a basketball star. Upon graduation from Sleepy Hollow HS in Tarrytown, NY, Bill received an offer from the Harlem Globetrotters. He had just joined the Air Force. The Air Force saw his greatness an offered the position as a member of their exclusive basketball team. Bill played for the Air Force for his entire service career- based out of Germany and Turkey. Upon departure from the Air Force, Bill returned to Tarrytown, and worked with his father in the family business- Wright Movers. In his later life, Bill returned to Buffalo to be with his mother. He worked as a security guard for the Brinks Corporation based at the Federal Reserve Bank in Buffalo. Bill was pre-deceased by his partner, Patricia Clark, his father, William Wright Sr; his mother Katherine Wright Harvey; his brother Wayne E. Wright, and his son, Pierre Wright. Bill is survived by his sister, Di Anne Wright of Washingtonville, NY; his daughter, Tenisha Wright, of Buffalo; and his daughters: Whitney Wright, Jacqueline Goodspeed and her husband, Matthew; of Syracuse; his son William Wright IV, also of Buffalo. His step-children: Alfred, Norman and Cheryl Campbell, and Roxanne Bellamy. His grandchildren: Branden Wright, Mikeal Owens-Wright, Nikia and Justine Goodspeed; Antoine Werts, Aniya Werts, Aaliyah Sanders and De'Lorian Sanders, Jr. and his long-time companion, Linda De Marchis. A graveside service will be held on Friday February 2nd at 1 PM at Forest Lawn Cemetery (please assemble at the main office at the Delaware & W. Delavan Gate).
