Obituary of Catherine Winfield Butsch
Catherine Winfield Butsch
Catherine “Caty,” aged 12, and forever full of life, went home to our Lord in heaven after a swimming accident in Fort Erie, Canada. She was always happy and enthusiastic about anything that she tackled from crafts to knitting to lacrosse to basketball to thumbwrestling. She was forever loving and caring, never saying a bad word about anyone.
Her impish smile, sparkling eyes and intrepid spirit were an inspiration to all who knew her. She was always upbeat and at-the-ready for a new adventure. She ran toward life with the speed of a gazelle never looking back. She lived her short life to the fullest and will always be remembered for the love and joy that she gave to others.
She is survived by her adoring parents, Molly (nee Magnotto) and John, sisters Caroline (14) and Anna (10), grandparents Lucy and John Butsch of Buffalo, NY, and Pam and Mark Magnotto of Cleveland, OH, W. Scott and Cristina Butsch of Cleveland, OH, Mary and Sean Meehan of Centreville, MD, Amy and Robert Frost of Cleveland, OH, cousins Francesca (14), Anders (12), Evan (12), Maisie (17), Hugh (15), Bina (20), Evie (17), Gabe (15), and Bizzie, her loyal black lab.
Services are private, with a celebration of Caty’s life for friends at a date TBA.
In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up in Caty’s name at her beloved school, Elmwood Franklin, Buffalo, NY, or as a donation to the Poor Claires Monastery of Cleveland Ohio.
She will forever be Our Caty.
