Born & raised in Buffalo, Ms. Cooley graduated from Holy Angels Academy in 1969 and the Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing in 1972.  She was a Surgical Nurse for 11 years and performed private medical services for over 25 years. A veteran of the U.S. Army, she served in the military for over 32 years as a Colonel.   Since 2012, Jayne has been our regional hospital emergency preparedness coordinator for all the hospitals in the eight counties of Western New York (Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming, Allegany, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua). Jayne was our contract employee and fulfilled her duties through a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for supporting hospital emergency preparedness and emergency response.   In her position, Jayne worked closely with state and county health departments, regional and statewide hospital associations, and hospitals across the region.   Jayne was ready to lend a hand when needed, including assisting with supporting our regional hospital mutual aid plan and helping to represent and support members during winter storms and flooding, and by documenting and moving patients after a structural failure at a nursing facility. She will be missed by all.  She was deployed to the Gulf War "Operation Desert Storm" and earned the rank of Full Bird Colonel, before her Honorable Discharge in 2011. She was the cherished sister of Barbara Cooley, Joseph E. (Rosemary) Cooley Jr., Paul J. (Sandy), Kevin P. (Leslie). Loving Aunt to 10 nieces and nephews, great Aunt to 12 nieces and nephews.  Colonel Cooley was an outstanding and loyal soldier, as well as an amazing Caregiver to many Buffalo families and a competent Surgical Nurse.  In lieu of flowers, donations, in Jayne’s name, may be made to the American Legion.  https://www.legion.org/donate
