Obituary of Maie H. Megahed

Maie Hathout Megahed, 86, long time resident of Buffalo, New York, passed away January 17, 2019 in Elkton, Maryland surrounded by family. Maie Megahed, born and raised in Cairo, Egypt, was the first woman to go to engineering school in Cairo.  She completed her masters and much of her doctoral work in bioelectrical engineering in Buffalo, New York, and spent her life as a mother and homemaker after completing her education.  Born January 25, 1932, she leaves behind three children, Hatem, Amre and Nivine with their respective spouses Seema Shah, Lule Megahed, and Rick Neal, and six grandchildren, Nadia, Tarick, Rami, Erol, Kenan, and Yasmin.  She also leaves her brother Bedawi Hathout, and sisters Senah, Sumaya, and Suhair, all in Egypt,  and joins her husband Dr. Mohamed Salah Megahed.  She will be deeply missed and remembered and cherished for her kind heart, brilliant mind, and amazing cooking.
