Obituary of Peter Jon F. Emerling
Peter-Jon was born in Hawaii, spent his early elementary years in his
mother’shome town, Portland OR and the rest of his life in Western NY. Peter-Jon graduated from Attica’s St. Vincent’s elementary as a basketball star and was a noted soccer player at Attica Senior High.
Peter joined the Army and served in Central America, Germany and in Bosnia’s third war as a UN Peacekeeper. He achieved numerous citations and awards, was Honorably Discharged as a Sargent E-5 and as a Self-Made man. His personal library was the largest on the Post and upon discovering thecomputer, delved into it so much he became the “go to” person for computer help and training. Even as a youngster he was a consummate explorer of
knowledge always “looking up” the answers to his own questions.
Peter was instrumental as an addition to and in the expansion of his father’s
food trading business into a successful warehouse and distribution center. Peter expanded the business which he ultimately took over as president with a range of investments including hair salons. Despite battling cancer for nearly 3 years, he continued working every day till near the end.
Peter is survived by his loving wife Alexandra from Venezuela, his precious 8 year old daughter Alina Jade, his parents John and Carla, sisters Chassagne
(Daniel) Shaffer and Delanda DeLucia, all of whom are from Western New York. Also numerous cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews and friends from Western New York, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Maryland and Massachusetts.
A private service is being held in Buffalo due to Covid and a Memorial Mass is planned for this summer (to be announced) at Sacred Heart Church in
Bennington Center New York.
A memorial education fund has begun by his immediate and extended families for Peter’s daughter's university education. Donations in lieu of other offerings may be sent in trust to Peter's sister, Delanda DeLucia of Brockport NY.
