Obituary of John Eustis
December 16, 2021. John was born in Hammond, NY on June 11, 1933. Beloved husband of Rosemary Eustis (nee LaFrance); loving father of June Egeland, Joely (Shimmy) Bernstein, Esther (Dovid) Resnick; cherished grandfather of Clinton Egeland, Shmueli Bernstein, Sarah (Tsvi) Perlstein, Yosef Bernstein, Esti Bernstein, Yaakov Resnick, Naami Resnick, Aharon (Ayelet) Resnick, Shira (Noach) Schwartz and Baruch Resnick; caring brother of Sallie (Jack) Pyper and loving uncle of his nieces and nephews, including Parker, Zeid, Michael & Sascha.
John was profoundly deaf his entire life, but at an early age learned how to function in both hearing and deaf worlds. As a child he attended the School for the Deaf in Malone, but upon its closure he went to the Rochester School for the Deaf. While there he especially enjoyed being active in Boy Scouts and playing various sports.
After graduating the Rochester School for the Deaf, John worked as a welder for Stromberg Carlson and Eastman Kodak. John was an avid boater and fisherman, always ready for a boat ride on the river and always eager for a battle with a northern pike or walleye. The St. Lawrence River was his favorite place to be and his daughter, nieces and nephew were his favorite boating companions. John also loved riding his bicycle on the canal paths in the Rochester area. Always busy with his Lutheran community, his deaf community and his always growing family, his smile and love for life will never be forgotten by his family and friends. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Please share condolences www.jerfh.com
