Obituary of David M. Berndt
May 3, 2022 of Buffalo, NY. A courageous and talented young man who could not touch your life without changing it, David bravely battled testicular cancer for 6 years. He became a beacon of hope for other cancer patients and their families during his time at Roswell Park, as both an employee and a patient. David graduated from St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, and then earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Buffalo State College before joining Roswell as a wellness ambassador and later a central access associate. Also an accomplished photographer, he inspired so many with his passion for life and appreciation for the beauty of the world around him. With his passing, his family believes he has now gained a new perspective with which he can further his love for capturing beauty.
David is survived by his loving parents, David and Eileen Berndt, sister Rachel (Ryan) Orie, nephew and godson Max Orie, grandmother Darlene DePasquale, aunt Patricia Russo, uncle David and aunt Lisa DePasquale, cousin Carley DePasquale, best friend and confidant Adrianne DiBrog, beloved cat Diggs, family dog Jacob, and countless other friends that became family.
A Celebration of David's Life is planned for a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to Roswell Park's "David Berndt Inspirational Fund" at roswellpark.org/giving or by mail to PO Box 631 Buffalo, NY 14240.
